Hybrid Filter

Hybrid Filters are part of the ELEX India product range. This equipment is a combination of the Electrostatic Precipitator and the Fabric Filter. The Electrostatic precipitation on the inlet end of the equipment is used to collect the larger particles and the subsequent Fabric Filter section is used as a polishing unit for removing the finer particles.

The concept of Hybrid Technology was introduced with the primary intent of serving as a retrofit solution for existing Electrostatic Precipitators. The existing casing of the precipitator is used and converted to a Hybrid Filter thereby substantially reducing the cost and down time of the retrofit.

The excellent performance of this equipment has however, prompted some of our valued customers to go in for Hybrid Filters as the preferred choice even for a new installation.

Functional description of the Hybrid Filter :

The following graphic explains the functioning of a Hybrid Filter.

Concept :

• Electrostatic precipitators can easily collect the larger particles from the gas with low input energy requirement.
• Make use of the ionization and agglomeration effects in the electric field to reduce the pressure drop across the filter bags.
• Bag filters achieve lower emission values and are independent of process changes and power supply.

Observations & Results:

• Upto 40% reduction in pressure drop in comparison with bag filters.
• Since bags are subjected to only about 10 – 15% of the dust load, they result in longer bag life and lower compressed air requirement as compared to normal Bag Filter.
